Privacy Policy
What Anglore actually collects, why, and who ever sees it — written to describe this specific app, not generic terms.
Who this is
Anglore is operated by Wreck Raiders — full registered legal name to be confirmed (“we”, “us”, “Anglore”). If you have any question about this policy, or want to access, correct, or delete your data, contact us at a contact email hasn’t been added yet.
What Anglore is
A UK sea-fishing companion app: trip planning (gear recommendations, marine conditions, a fishing calendar), a knowledge base (the Fishing Academy), a species identifier, and a personal catch log with optional sharing to private friend groups and competitions.
Data we collect
Account. Your email address, used only for passwordless sign-in — we never see or store a password. Optionally: a display name, home region, experience level, and preferred species/methods/fishing styles, used to personalize recommendations.
Catches you log. Species, date/time, venue name, weight/length, method, lure/bait/colourway used, water conditions, free-text notes, and an optional photo. Location is only ever a free-text venue name, an optional GPS fix you capture yourself, or a link to one of your own saved marks — we never derive exact coordinates from a photo without your explicit input.
Photos. Location and other identifying metadata is stripped automatically before storage. Catch photos are visible only to you right now, regardless of a catch’s sharing level — see “Sharing your catches” below.
Gear and saved marks. Private to you by default, only ever visible to others if you explicitly choose to share them.
Groups and competitions. If you create or join a group, we store your membership and role. If you enter a competition, we store the entry and the catch it’s based on.
AI species identification (optional). If you turn this on, you choose one AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google) and enter your own API key. That key is never sent to or stored on Anglore’s servers — it stays only in your own browser’s local storage, and is only ever used to make a request directly to your chosen provider when you ask for a suggestion. That provider’s own privacy policy governs how they handle that request. Every AI suggestion requires your own confirmation before it’s used anywhere else — we never treat it as authoritative on its own.
Marine conditions and weather. Your search location (typed in, or your device’s location if you grant permission) is sent to Open-Meteo, a weather data provider, for a one-off forecast lookup — we don’t build a history of everywhere you’ve checked unless you save it as a fishing mark.
Local tackle shop search. Your search location is sent to Google’s Places API via our own server, not your device directly, to find real shops and their public details. We don’t share your account identity with Google as part of this.
Sharing your catches
Sharing a catch is always your own explicit, per-catch choice — never automatic just because you’re signed in, in a group, or by default. Each catch has one of four sharing levels you choose yourself:
- Private (default) — visible only to you.
- Friends group — visible only to active members of the one specific group you tag it with.
- Public, approximate location — visible to everyone using the app, with location generalized rather than exact.
- Public, no location — visible to everyone, with no location shown at all.
Photos stay visible only to you regardless of which level you pick — extending photo visibility to shared viewers is a deliberate feature we haven’t built yet, not something that happens as a side effect of sharing.
Who we share data with
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. They host essentially all of your account data on our behalf.
- Open-Meteo — receives location coordinates for weather/marine forecast lookups only. No account information is sent.
- Google (Places API) — receives search locations for the tackle-shop finder, via our server, not linked to your account.
- Anthropic / OpenAI / Google (Gemini) — only if you turn on AI species ID, and only for the specific photo you ask about, sent directly from your own device using your own API key.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use any third-party advertising or tracking on Anglore today.
In-house analytics
We keep a simple internal log of which pages get used and a handful of key actions (e.g. signing in, logging a catch, checking conditions, joining a group) so we can see what’s actually useful. This log stays entirely within our own Supabase project — never sent to a third-party analytics vendor, never linked to advertising, and never includes anything you’ve typed (no notes, no photos, no search text) — just which action happened and, where relevant, a small, non-identifying detail like a venue name.
Age and social features
Anglore’s social features (creating or joining a group, or sharing a catch beyond “Private”) require you to self-confirm you’re 18 or older via a checkbox on your profile. This is a self-attestation, not an age verification check.
Your choices
Access/export — from your account page, you can download a full copy of everything Anglore holds about you (profile, catches, gear, marks, group memberships, competition entries) as a single file, any time — no need to ask us.
Deletion — also from your account page: a self-service “delete my account” option removes your account and everything linked to it, including catch photos in storage. This is permanent and cannot be undone by us afterward.
Correcting your data — anything on your profile, catches, gear, or marks can be edited or deleted directly in the app at any time.
Cookies
Anglore only sets the session cookie Supabase Auth needs to keep you signed in. We don’t use any third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that meaningfully affects how your data is used, we’ll make a reasonable effort to let you know before it takes effect — decide how: email, an in-app banner, or both.
